Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. We collect only what is necessary to provide your phone service and we never sell your information.

Effective Date: February 25, 2026 — Last Updated: February 25, 2026

VoipPlus LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the VoipPlus Softphone mobile application (the "App") for iOS and Android, and provides business telecommunications services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App and our services.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When your employer or service provider provisions your device, we receive your business phone extension number, display name, and SIP account credentials. This information is provided by your organization's phone system administrator, not entered directly by you.

As a telecommunications provider, VoipPlus is also required by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to collect certain customer information under "Know Your Customer" (KYC) regulations:

Information Why It's Required
Customer name FCC customer identification, account management
Business name FCC customer identification, billing
Service address E911 emergency service registration (FCC mandate)
Phone number(s) Service provisioning, number porting authorization
Contact email Account communications, service notifications
Billing information Payment processing for services rendered

Device Information

  • Device identifier — A unique, anonymous device ID used to manage provisioning and prevent duplicate registrations. This ID cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Device type and operating system — Used to deliver the correct app configuration and push notifications.
  • IP address — Logged temporarily for security monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • User-Agent string — Collected for device compatibility and diagnostics.

Call Data

  • Call history — Records of calls made and received (phone numbers, timestamps, duration) are stored locally on your device. We do not store call history on our servers.
  • Call content — We do not record, monitor, or store the content of your voice calls.

Camera and Microphone

  • Microphone — Required to make and receive voice calls.
  • Camera — The App requests camera access to support video calling features. Camera data is used solely for real-time video calls and is never recorded or stored by us.

Contacts

The App may request access to your device contacts to display caller names and facilitate dialing. Contact data remains on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

Push Notification Data

When you enable push notifications, your device's push notification token is sent to our server so we can wake the App for incoming calls. Push tokens are associated with your extension number and device, not with your personal identity.

Crash and Performance Data

If crash reporting is enabled, anonymous crash logs and diagnostic data may be collected through Google Firebase Crashlytics (Android) or Apple crash reporting (iOS). This data contains no personally identifiable information and is used solely to improve app stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for the following purposes:

  • Providing service — Connecting your device to your organization's phone system, routing calls, and delivering push notifications for incoming calls.
  • Provisioning and configuration — Setting up and maintaining your SIP account on the device, including automatic configuration updates.
  • Security and fraud prevention — Detecting unauthorized access, preventing abuse, and troubleshooting connection issues.
  • Improving the App — Analyzing anonymous crash data to fix bugs and improve performance.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the phone service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Your organization — Your employer or service provider administers your phone account. They control your extension, credentials, and account provisioning.
  • Service providers (data processors):
    • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — Used to deliver push notifications on Android. Google receives your device's push token to deliver notifications. See Google's Privacy Policy.
    • Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) — Used to deliver push notifications on iOS. Apple receives your device's push token to deliver notifications. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
    • Google Firebase Crashlytics — Receives anonymous crash reports to help us diagnose and fix issues. No personally identifiable information is included. See Firebase Privacy.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.

4. CPNI Protection

Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) includes details about your phone service such as call records, numbers called, and service features. Under FCC rules, CPNI is protected information. We use CPNI only to provide and improve your telecommunications service. We do not use or share CPNI for marketing purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • SIP credentials are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage, protected by the operating system's sandboxing.
  • Server-side data (device tokens, extension assignments, event logs) is stored on secured servers with restricted access.
  • Data in transit is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
  • We do not store your call audio, message content, or contact list on our servers.

6. Data Retention

  • Provisioning data (device token, extension assignment) is retained while your account is active. When your device is deprovisioned, the device record is deactivated.
  • Event logs (provisioning events, connection diagnostics) are retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Call history is stored only on your device and can be cleared at any time from within the App.
  • FCC-regulated records (customer information, call detail records) are retained in accordance with FCC requirements. You may request deletion after service termination.

7. Your Rights and Choices

  • Deprovisioning — You or your administrator can deprovision your device at any time, which removes your account from the App and deactivates your push notification token on our server.
  • Uninstall — Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data, including call history, contacts cache, and account credentials.
  • Push notifications — You can disable push notifications through your device's system settings.
  • Crash reporting — Crash reporting can be disabled in the App's settings.
  • CPNI restrictions — You may restrict the use of your CPNI beyond basic service provision.
  • Data access and deletion — To request access to or deletion of any data we hold about your device, contact us at the address below.

For European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Third-Party Services

The App connects to your organization's SIP/PBX server to provide phone service. Your organization's server is managed independently by your employer or service provider, and their own privacy policies apply to the data they process.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last Updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
