Business Call Routing

Move active calls between your desk phone, mobile app, and desktop — without the caller noticing. Route future calls to any device or colleague. All included at no extra charge.

One Extension, All Your Devices

Your business phone system connects all your devices — desk phone, mobile app, and desktop app — into a single unified extension. Instead of managing separate phone numbers for each device, all your devices ring together as one.

You can seamlessly move active calls between devices, or control exactly which device rings when clients call. This guide covers the two main types of call routing available to you: Live Call Routing for calls already in progress, and Cold Call Routing for controlling where future calls are delivered.

Live Call Routing

Live call routing lets you transfer a call that is already happening. Whether you need to switch from your desk phone to your mobile as you leave the office, or hand off a call to any other extension on the system, these features keep the conversation going without interruption.

Pull a Call to Your Device — *33

What it does: Grabs an active or ringing call from any of your other devices and brings it to the device you are using right now.

How to use it: Pick up any of your devices and dial *33.

The system automatically finds the active call on your other device and moves it to you. The caller hears nothing — the conversation continues without any click, beep, or interruption.

If you have more than two devices and want to pull from a specific one, dial *33 followed by that device's extension number. For example, *331002 pulls the call specifically from extension 1002.

When to use Call Pull

  • Leaving the office mid-call. You are on a call at your desk phone when you realize you need to head to a meeting across town. Pick up your mobile phone, dial *33, and continue the conversation as you walk to your car. The caller never knows you switched devices.
  • Arriving at your desk. You answered a client call on your mobile app while grabbing coffee. Now you are back at your desk and want the comfort of your desk phone and headset. Pick up your desk phone, dial *33, and the call moves over instantly.
  • Switching to a better connection. You are on a call using your desktop app over Wi-Fi, but the audio quality is poor. Pick up your desk phone, dial *33, and continue on a stable wired connection.

Push a Call to Another Device or Person — *9

What it does: While you are on an active call, press *9 to send that call to any extension — your own mobile device, a colleague, or any other phone on the system.

How to use it: During a live call, press *9. You will hear a short beep confirming the system is ready. Then dial the extension number of the destination, followed by #.

The destination phone rings. When it is answered, you are automatically disconnected and the caller is connected directly to the new party. The handoff is clean — the caller simply hears brief ringing and then the new person picks up.

To cancel a push before it connects, press * instead of dialing an extension. Your original call resumes as if nothing happened.

When to use Call Push

  • Handing off to a colleague. A client calls you about a billing question you cannot answer. While on the call, press *9, dial your accounting colleague's extension, and press #. Their phone rings, they answer, and the client is now speaking directly with the right person — no need to ask the client to call back or wait on hold.
  • Moving a call to your mobile before leaving. You are wrapping up a call at your desk and realize it will run long. Press *9, dial your own mobile extension, press #. Your mobile rings, you answer it, and the call continues on your phone as you head out.
  • Transferring to a department phone. A caller reached you directly but needs the support team. Press *9, dial the support extension, press #. The caller is routed to support without ever being put on hold or disconnected.

Cold Call Routing

Cold call routing lets you decide in advance which device should ring when someone calls your number. By default, all your devices ring simultaneously. Cold routing overrides that behavior, directing all incoming calls to a single specific device until you reset it.

Pull All Calls to Your Device — *50

What it does: Makes your current device the only one that rings when someone calls your number. All your other devices stay silent until you reset to normal.

How to use it: Pick up the device you want to receive all calls on and dial *50. You will hear a confirmation beep. From that moment, every incoming call rings only on that device.

When to use Cold Pull

  • Working remotely for the day. You are working from home and only have your mobile app. Dial *50 from your mobile app so you never miss a call — your desk phone at the office will not ring needlessly with no one there to answer it.
  • Dedicated focus time. You are in a conference room with your laptop running the desktop app. Dial *50 from the desktop app so only that device rings. Your desk phone and mobile stay silent, avoiding disruptions to the meeting.
  • On-call after hours. You are covering the evening shift from your mobile phone. Dial *50 so every call comes directly to your mobile — no ringing on the desk phone sitting in a dark, empty office.

Route All Calls to a Specific Device — *49

What it does: Directs all your incoming calls to one of your other devices. Unlike *50, which activates the device you are currently using, *49 lets you choose any of your devices by extension number — even one you do not have in front of you right now.

How to use it: From any of your devices, dial *49 followed by the extension number of the device you want to receive all calls. For example, if your mobile app is extension 1002, dial *491002. You will hear a confirmation beep. From that moment, only your mobile app will ring when someone calls.

When to use Remote Device Routing

  • Heading out and your mobile is in your pocket. You are at your desk phone and about to leave for the day. Dial *491002 from your desk phone to route all calls to your mobile app — no need to pull out your phone and dial *50 on it first.
  • Switching to your desktop app from your mobile. You just sat down at your computer but your phone is across the room. From your desk phone, dial *49 plus your desktop app's extension to start receiving calls there.
  • Preparing for a meeting. Before walking into a conference room, dial *49 from your desk phone plus your laptop's extension number. When you open your laptop in the meeting, it will be the only device that rings.

Restore Normal Ringing — *51

What it does: Cancels any active cold routing and restores the default behavior where all your devices ring simultaneously on incoming calls.

How to use it: From any of your devices, dial *51. You will hear a confirmation beep. All your devices will resume ringing together on the next incoming call.

Use this when you return to the office after working remotely, or when you simply want all your devices to ring together again.
